A fast-moving fire in Oildale has destroyed at least three homes, killed five horses, and damaged more than three dozen cars near Riverview Park.

That was around 3:00 Monday afternoon. Kern County Fire Captain Cary Wright says all the vegetation, vehicles, trailers, and the wind presented a huge challenge to firefighters.

In all, 17 acres burned and two families were displaced.
