At least four dozen Kern County firefighters are in Northern California to help battle the wildfires that have killed at least 21 people and affected that area’s wine-growing industry.

Captain Jason Knaggs says they are helping out on engines, helicopters, bulldozers, and the Incident Management Team. Most of their crews left Monday morning and could be working for at least the next two weeks, while more personnel may be assigned if needed.
