BIOENERGY TAKES CENTER STAGE

Supervisors have declared Wednesday as National Bioenergy Day in Kern County, where a co-generation plant creates electricity with leftover wood products from agriculture.

Mike Maggard sponsored the Proclamation at Tuesday’s morning session, saying the Mt. Poso facility east of Famoso Road and Hwy 65 is good for the environment. Mt. Poso also uses millions of gallons of leftover oilfield water in its process to create enough electricity to power 3,000 homes.

The facility will also host a walk-through this morning.
