Kern County Animal Services is providing free spay/neuter vouchers for people in unincorporated areas who own pit bull dogs. Director Nick Cullen says 19-hundred canines of all types have been euthanized in shelters this year. Cullen says the vouchers have an expiration date of 45 days and you must schedule an appointment with a participating veterinarian, it does not cover blood work or take home pain medications.
