VALLEY FEVER RALLY TAKES AIM AT GOV, COUNTY

Local Valley Fever survivors are taking Governor Brown to task for vetoing a bill to research and track the disease.

Those at Monday’s rally outside the County Public Health Department in east Bakersfield say the disease is often misdiagnosed and not fully counted, which has caused long term health problems for them or their loved ones. They are also calling on the County to improve their statistics.

Some at the event want to launch a Valley Fever education campaign in local schools to help speed up treatment.

At least 150,000 people nationwide get infected every year. We saw a 62% spike in cases last year with many coming from Bakersfield or the west county.
