Kern County Public Health has launched a new Valley Fever awareness campaign with a famous face at the center: Sheriff Donny Youngblood. At Tuesday’s kickoff, Youngblood said he was asked to do the ads to encourage more people to get tested for the potentially deadly disease, which has killed one family member and severely affected another.
Public Health launched their second public awareness campaign this year after seeing a 62% spike in cases county-wide in 2016.
