Police are canvassing the neighborhood where a three-year-old boy was gunned down inside a residence on Pershing Street and California Avenue in east Bakersfield. Chief Lyle Martin says their community relations and special enforcement units are being deployed, saying we have to “come together as a community and go after these types of violent individuals.” Major Sutton was killed Friday night, his five-year-old brother and pregnant mother were wounded. Martin also says they’ve identified a suspect vehicle in February’s drive-by shooting that killed five-year-old Kasen Guyton and wounded his seven-year-old brother.
