Three young men have been arrested for a drive-by shooting that happened on Vern Street in south Bakersfield.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Steven Wells says a 14-year-old boy was shot in the lower leg around 6:40 Tuesday night by someone in a black Mercedes, and the suspects were quickly chased down by nearby police officers. Two houses and a parked car were also hit by bullets, and officers found ammo and pieces of an AR-15 assault rifle that had been tossed from the car.
