Three Bakersfield volunteers are helping to provide, food and relief services to hundreds of evacuees of the Thomas Fire in Ventura County. Red Cross Spokeswoman Cindy Huge says 450 people have spent the past few nights at the fairgrounds and animals are being housed in a nearby building. She says their agency is working with government and community partners to coordinate relief efforts.
