BCSD OPENS MIGRANT EDUCATION OFFICE

The Bakersfield City School District has opened a new Migrant Education Office to help 3,000 farm workers’ children finish school.

Program Director Jamie Flores says the 3,800 square foot space on Baker and Monterey streets allows them to provide more academic and family services while parents look for work. The building also has a child care room and garden.

The program itself has been federally funded for decades.
