Kern County firefighters are looking into what sparked a fire to a single family home on Shattuck Avenue near Pico Street in Taft. Crews were called just after 11:00 Thursday morning and saw smoke coming from the 700 square foot residence. There was no one inside and damage is estimated at $15,000.
