One of two men arrested after a dead body was found in a stolen car on Highway 65 north of Bakersfield has pleaded not guilty to a lesser charge. Ben Barness is accused of possessing a stolen vehicle but had been booked with Manpreet Sidhu of Los Angeles on suspicion of murder. The case was sent back to the sheriff’s office for further investigation.
