Adventist Health is giving out free flu shots at mobile clinics around Kern County to protect against a very bad virus this season that has killed a Bakersfield woman, sent others to the Intensive Care Unit, and filled emergency rooms to the brim.

Program Supervisor Melissa Vega says contrary to earlier reports, the vaccine does protect you against the AH 3 and 2 strain that is causing all the problems, as well as three other strains. Vega says babies younger than six months and the elderly are most at-risk for catching the flu from you.

The next clinic is Thursday at the Vallarta Supermarket in Arvin.
