Kern County Public Health Services has launched an online map showing where pedestrians and bicycle riders are most likely to be hit by vehicles.

Director Matt Constantine showed off the interactive display on walkkern.com with CHP stats to Supervisors on Tuesday, but says they still need data from Bakersfield Police and CalTrans.

A public awareness and education campaign is planned, as is construction on projects to reduce injuries and deaths. However, those projects rely heavily on the state gas tax.
