CLEANING UP THE DIESEL

The Valley Air Pollution Control District is getting nearly $2.4 million in federal grants to swap out 144 diesel-powered tractors and delivery trucks.

The Environmental Protection Agency says their money will help everyone breathe easier because the San Joaquin Valley consistently has the worst air quality in the nation. The Air District has received $20 million from the EPA over the past eight years to purchase electric school buses and other vehicles, but will chip in about $12.5 million this year to help buy those tractors and trucks.
