Bakersfield Police Chief Lyle Martin says his department is NOT conducting immigration sweeps. Martin writes in the Bakersfield Californian that he is “compelled” to address the issue again after overhearing a conversation at a local school. This announcement comes a few days after a large federal raid detained dozens of farm workers in Kern County.
