The man believed to be Kern County’s last surviving Pearl Harbor veteran has died.

Bob Cunningham was a Navy gunner’s mate aboard the USS Vestal when the Japanese attacked in 1941. Cunningham eventually moved to Lake Isabella and was part of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post and Honor Flight.

He was 95.
