WARM STORM HITS COUNTY

The forecast for heavy rain through today is holding steady with a change expected by the weekend. The spring storm soaking Kern County will likely ease up in time for the weekend, but temperatures are also expected to fall. William Peterson at the National Weather Service office in Hanford says the atmospheric river that’s dumping rain across the region is too warm to create snow below eight-thousand feet, but a new storm out of the north will carry a chance for snow by Saturday in Frazier Park. The current storm holds tropical moisture and is too warm for snow except at the higher elevations.
