Three Bakersfield elementary schools have been named California Distinguished Schools for 2018 by the state superintendent’s office. Berkshire and Granite Pointe Elementary in the southwest and Cesar E. Chavez Elementary School in east Bakersfield got the honors for good academics and low suspensions last year.
