“INTEXTICATED” AS BAD AS INTOXICATED

The Highway Patrol in Bakersfield is taking Distracted Driving Awareness Month to a whole new level, joining forces with the Sheriff’s Office, BPD, and Triple A to keep people focused on the road. CHP Commander Scot Loetscher says texting is truly the issue they’re targeting, saying it’s “the most dangerous thing, in my opinion, that can be done inside a vehicle.” The AutoClub has launched a major public service campaign to support law enforcement, it encourages people to change what’s being called a “deadly habit” using the slogan, “Don’t drive intoxicated, Don’t drive inTEXTicated.” The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration says nine people are killed and a thousand are hurt everyday in distracted driving crashes. #DontDriveIntexticated
