GOH LOBBIES SACTO ON HOMELESSNESS

Bakersfield mayor Karen Goh is in Sacramento, urging lawmakers to spend $1.5-Billion to fight homelessness. Goh says the problem is statewide, but Kern County has been hit especially hard. “Over this last year, our Point In Time Count shows there was an increase of over 46-percent, and we were unable to count everyone.” The closure of two homeless shelters last year contributed to the problem in Bakersfield, Assembly Bill 3171 would pay for shelters and healthcare as well as programs for people who want to get off the streets.
