A Bakersfield woman who pretended to be an immigration lawyer to scam clients out of $30,000 has pleaded no contest to grand theft and been sentenced to five years probation. Most of Alice Madera’s eight victims were in the Bay Area or Los Angeles, but prosecutors believe there could be more.
