Bakersfield Police have arrested a man who man was seen loading tires into the back of a truck outside the Express Wholesale Tire shop on E. Brundage Lane. Lt. Melvin Johnson says 20-year-old Carlos Montez disconnected the cab when officers arrived around 4:00 this morning [wed] and led them on a short case before hitting a cinderblock wall at Washington Street and Potomac Avenue. “The officers were able to determine during their investigation that the semi truck and trailer were stolen.” Montez also faces charges of trying to hitting a parked vehicle and for trying to hit a BPD squad car.
