SETTLEMENT IN OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING

The city of Bakersfield has reached a $400,000 settlement with the family of a police informant who was killed by officers during a shootout with a fugitive suspect.

Jorge Ramirez was unarmed when he was hit outside the Four Points Sheraton Hotel on California Avenue in 2013. He was trying to turn over Bryan Harger, who was also killed that night.

The Ramirez family has criticized the BPD investigation in the past.
