HARVEY HALL HAD RARE BRAIN DISEASE

The personal physician for former Bakersfield mayor Harvey Hall says the 77-year old suffered from a sporadic form of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, which is a degenerative and transmissible form of brain disease that has no cure. Dr. Ron Ostrum says Hall was diagnosed last month for an “incredibly rare” form of CJD and died in hospice care May 19th. There are about 300 cases of CJD each year in the U.S.
