The Pier Fire in the Sequoia National Forest east of Springville continues to smolder nine months after it was declared fully contained. An 80 foot sequoia is burning and sending smoke into the air, but rangers do not expect it to spread.

The 36,000 acre fire was sparked by humans last August.
