Bakersfield firefighters and police will be handing out thousand dollar citations to anyone using illegal fireworks over the 4th of July.
Fire Battalion Chief John Frando says fireworks that explode, spin or fly caused 52 fires last year. 38 enforcement teams and a drone will be out over the July 4th holiday to catch people. Firefighters gave out $75,000 in citations last year, even for fireworks with a “Safe and Sane” label.
Kern County Fire will also be handing out $1500 fines if you or a party guest at your home set off illegal fireworks.
