Bakersfield firefighters have knocked down a five acre fire on the Panorama Bluffs that sent a lot of smoke into the air.

The fire started before 3:00 Wednesday afternoon and was threatening several homes before firefighters laid down breaks and snuffed it out. The cause is under investigation.
