Kern County Fire Helicopter 407 was instrumental in saving a man who went swimming in the Killer Kern and got stranded on large rock.

The man had been swimming about a mile from the mouth of the canyon when he was washed away late Monday afternoon, and it took about two hours to get him off the rock.
