GUILTY IN A TEACHER’S DEATH

The man accused of killing a pregnant teacher in a DUI crash in Shafter has been found guilty of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

John Hernandez had smoked marijuana sometime before hitting Gabriela Soto head-on last year on Santa Fe Way and Los Angeles Street. Hernandez faces four years in prison at next month’s sentencing.

Soto was working as a science teacher at Independence High School in Wasco at the time.
