Several people had to be evacuated during a fire at the Fortune Metal recycling plant on Quinn Road in Oildale.

A forklift started sparking in one of the buildings around 7:40 Tuesday morning, possibly due to an electrical problem. Foul play is not suspected.

The fire spread to some nearby debris before it was knocked down. No one was hurt.
