The man accused of killing another driver in a DUI crash near the 99 Freeway in south Bakersfield has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and three other felonies. The CHP says 24-year-old Cristian Avalos hit 28-year-old Pablo Garcia as he got off on Panama Lane last month.

Garcia’s passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
