California Highway Patrol Officers will be watching the roads throughout Thanksgiving weekend in an effort to reduce fatalities and keep travelers safe. In 2017, CHP saw a 61% percent increase in fatalities over 2016, and of the 46 people killed in collisions, about half of them were not wearing a seat belt.
