CA Majority Against The Death Penalty

(Sacramento, CA) — A new poll shows a majority of Californians are against the death penalty for convicted killers. The Public Policy Institute of California survey found that 62-percent prefer a life sentence without parole. This is more in step with Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent moratorium on state executions. Only 31-percent favored the death penalty. The same poll found that roughly two-thirds say housing affordability is a major issue. Almost half surveyed say high housing costs may force them to move out of the state.
