Assemblyman Faces Sex Misconduct Charges

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – An Assembly Republican is the latest California lawmaker to face accusations of sexual misconduct.

The Los Angeles Times reports Republican Assemblyman Bill Brough of Dana Point has denied allegations that he made unwanted advances toward four women.

Republican legislative leaders are calling for an investigation into the claims.

Two of the allegations were previously investigated and not substantiated, one by the Dana Point city attorney and the other by the state Assembly. Two others have not been previously reported to the Assembly.

The California Legislature opened a new office to investigate harassment and discrimination in February after the (hash)MeToo movement roiled the Capitol and forced several lawmakers to resign.
