(Sacrament, CA) — Governor Gavin Newsom is instructing the CHP and the Department of Public Health to develop new coronavirus safety protocols for public safety after a Christian concert at the Capitol drew thousands of people. Newsom says people who request a permit for events like that, but don’t follow the rules, put other people’s lives at risk and increase the spread of the virus. He says the new rules must be based on constitutional rights and protections as well as public health and safety. The new guidelines would apply to all events.
