Newsom Vetoes Bill To Aid Low-Income Immigrants

(Sacramento, CA) — A bill that would have allowed the state to give low-income immigrants 600-dollars to buy groceries is not moving forward. The bill was aimed at helping undocumented immigrants who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and are not eligible for state and federal assistance programs. Newsom said he could not sign the bill because of the significant impact it would have on the state’s General Fund.
