A Toddler Injured in a Weekend Shooting

On Saturday, June 19, 2021 at approximately 9:57 P.M., Bakersfield Police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard for a ShotSpotter activation. Dispatch also received reports of a shooting that had just occurred.

Prior to officer’s arrival, the victims had been transported to an area hospital by private means. The investigation revealed an adult male and adult female had been struck by gunfire. In addition, a 2-year-old female juvenile had been struck by bullet and glass fragments as a result of the shooting.

The victims advised two suspects approached the adult male on foot and fired multiple rounds as he was entering his vehicle. The adult female and juvenile were inside the vehicle at that time.

The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1) Black male adult, slim build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt
Suspect #2) Black male adult, slim build, wearing a light colored t-shirt

The adult victims are currently listed in critical, but stable, condition. The juvenile received treatment for minor injuries.
