Pilot Injured in Lake Isabella Plane Crash

An adult male has suffered minor injuries after crashing his plane in Kern County.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 2:23 p.m. Tuesday afternoon for reports of a plane down in a lake. Initial investigations revealed the man tried taking off from a boat launch on the south side of Lake Isabella. The solo pilot did not get enough air and hit a tree. He subsequently crashed into the lake. A nearby jet skier rushed over the downed craft and pulled the pilot from the wreckage as it sank. The man suffered only minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital. The FAA will be handling the investigation.
