Bakersfield Fire Hosting September 11 Student Essay Contest

Students in the Bakersfield-area are being asked to compete in an essay contest in remembrance of 9/11.The Bakersfield Fire Department and Dignity Health, in partnership with the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, are hosting an essay contest to honor the upcoming 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

Students in grades 9 through 12 may write and submit an essay explaining why it is so important for U.S. citizens to remember the attack and honor the victims. The winning essay will receive a $1000 scholarship and will be featured at the September 11 memorial in Southwest Bakersfield.

Essays are due no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, August 30 and can be submitted here.
