BPD Officer Stabbed in Attempted Vehicle Burglary

The Bakersfield Police Department has taken two suspects into custody after an off-duty officer was stabbed in a vehicle burglary.On August 24th, 2021 at about 11:59 AM, an off-duty plain-clothed Bakersfield Police officer leaving a medical facility interrupted a burglary of his personal vehicle in the 600 block of 38th Street. The officer attempted to detain the male suspect who was still in the officer’s vehicle. While attempting to detain the male suspect, a female accomplice approached the officer from behind and stabbed him multiple times with a screwdriver. The male suspect was able to flee due to the assault.

Responding police units located Joshua Holman (37) and Suzanne Holman (40) of Bakersfield. They were taken into custody and booked into the Kern County Jail for aggravated assault, conspiracy, burglary, robbery and possession of methamphetamine.

The officer sustained non-life-threatening injury and received medical treatment at an area hospital.
