The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal officer involved shooting Wednesday morning just after midnight.The full release is below:

On October 6, 2021, at 12:06 a.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies located a parked vehicle in the 1200 block of Texas Street occupied by a domestic violence suspect armed with a firearm. Upon arrival, the suspect exited his vehicle and confronted deputies with a firearm, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Six KCSO deputies have been placed on administrative leave pending completion of the investigation.

The suspect, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kern County Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
