Kern County Firefighter Arrested on Suspicion of Child Porn

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has taken a Kern County firefighter into custody after a search of the man’s residence yielded possible child pornography.

On December 17, 2021, Kern County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit Detectives served a search warrant at multiple locations related to an ongoing child pornography investigation. The suspect in this investigation was tentatively identified as Christopher Vega (DOB 10/28/86), a Kern County firefighter. Several devices were seized from Vega’s residence and place of employment. During a forensic search of Vega’s electronic devices, approximately 500 images of suspected child pornography were located. A Ramey warrant was authored for his arrest and SVU Detectives subsequently arrested Vega at his residence on December 20, 2021 without incident. Vega was transported to the Central Receiving Facility jail and booked for possession of child pornography. Vega’s bail is set at $2,000,000.
