Juvenile Suspect Arrested for Armed Robbery and Carjacking

The Bakersfield Police Department has arrested a juvenile boy for a laundry list of crimes.

On December 30th, officers with the Bakersfield Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery which had just occurred in the parking lot of the Valley Plaza Mall, 2701 Ming Avenue. The suspect brandished a firearm at the victim and fled with a purse. Responding officers located the suspect in a previously carjacked vehicle (which was stolen at gunpoint on December 27th). The suspect, a male juvenile (17), fled from the vehicle on foot while armed with a firearm, which he discarded. He was taken into custody after continuing to resist arrest with a minor use of physical force and the firearm was recovered.

The juvenile offender was identified as the suspect in the previous carjacking and an additional offense of robbery, during which he pointed a firearm at a victim and fled with a purse, on December 29th in the parking lot of the Vallarta Market, 1515 Panama Lane.

The juvenile was transported and booked into juvenile hall for two counts of armed robbery, weapons violations and carjacking.
