Parents Arrested Following the Death of a Baby in Lake Isabella

Deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office have arrested two people following the death of an approximate 1-year-old in Lake Isabella.

On January 29, 2022, at 9:19 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1900 block of Bernie Drive, Lake Isabella, for a child not breathing. Deputies and medical personnel responded to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies found an unresponsive child inside the residence. The child was pronounced deceased at the scene after life-saving measures were performed.

Deputies determined the death was suspicious in nature and Homicide Detectives responded to assume the investigation. Ashley Saffell (age 27) and Jeffrey Sullins (age 29) were arrested for PC 273A(A), felony child endangerment.
