California Highway Patrol Busts Several Bakersfield ‘Chop Shops’

Four people have been arrested by the Kern County Auto Theft Taskforce for operating illegal chop shops. The investigative unit compromised of California Highway Patrol and Bakersfield Police officers, was conducting automotive repair business inspections on 21st Street near Union Avenue Tuesday afternoon. During the searches, they located multiple vehicles in the process of being dismantled, stripped, and identified as stolen. A total of 16 stolen vehicles, components, and a “ghost” gun were located.

Four men were arrested, ages ranging between 24 and 35.
