Deputies with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office took a man into custody Wednesday following a sexual assault investigation.

On April 6, 2022, at approximately 5:00 p.m., deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Wasco Substation, with the assistance of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigation’s Unit, served a search warrant in the 900 Block of Palm Avenue in Wasco in relation to an exploitation of a minor/sexual assault investigation.  During the service of the search warrant, Diego Emanuel Gomez, a 23-year-old male from Wasco, was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant in connection to the investigation.

The search and arrest warrants were the result of an ongoing investigation in which Gomez was identified as the suspect in multiple sexual assault and/or exploitation of a minor investigations.
Gomez was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for PC 288.A(B)(1), PC 261.5(D), and PC 298(H).

Based on information obtained during the investigation, this investigation is ongoing and law enforcement believes there may be additional victims related to investigation and Gomez.
