The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what happened to a man found dead in Oildale.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Francisco Xavier Rodriguez Jr. of Bakersfield.

On May 16, 2022, at 2:40 am, Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a man down in the 1400 block of N. Chester Ave.  Deputies responded and located a deceased male near the railroad tracks at N. Chester Ave. and Norris Rd.  The male was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Homicide detectives responded and assumed the investigation.  At this time there is no suspect information.  The identity of the victim will be released at a later time by the Coroner’s Office.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Kern County Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110 or Secret Witness at 661-322-4040.
