Michael Deatherage, 52, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a slew of crimes including possession of a gun by a felon, possessing an explosive device, and possessing drugs for sale after Kern County Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant Friday at his house on Erskine Creek Road. Homicide detectives have begun an investigation after human bones were also discovered. Deatherage is being held on nearly $700,000 bail and returns to court February 20.
