alleged high-speed chase, kidnapping lands wofford heights man in jail

A Wofford Heights man is behind bars after a wild police chase from Ridgecrest into the Mojave desert.

Officers say Eric Schilling, 22, took off from a traffic stop Sunday night at speeds over a hundred miles per hour.

Police say he crashed through gates, ran stop signs, and ignored red lights, all with a female passenger inside the truck who begged Schilling to be let out.

She was injured after being tossed around inside the vehicle and was taken to the hospital.

Schilling’s truck eventually got stuck in the desert in San Bernardino County. He was caught after allegedly trying to run away.

He faces charges including kidnapping, reckless driving, and resisting arrest.
